An Amazon employee from Baltimore, Maryland, recently won a $50,000 lottery prize from a $5 scratch card, his second big win in as many months. He had already won $30,000 from a similar card in January. He called his girlfriend in to take a look, and she said "Unbelievable!".

This week in markets saw Bitcoin briefly break through the $25,000 mark, with other major tokens like ETH, ADA, and MATIC recording double-digit gains. Crypto stocks also saw positive price actions, with MicroStrategy and Coinbase rising 22% and 17% respectively.

Rescue workers in Turkey have pulled at least three people from the rubble of the Turkey-Syria earthquake, over 11 days after they were trapped. Hakan Yasinoglu, Osman Halebiye, and Mustafa Avci were all saved in Antakya. An earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred last week.

More than 60,000 Somalis, mainly women and children, have fled to Ethiopia's Somali region in the past few weeks to escape clashes and insecurity in the city of Laascaanood. Exhausted and traumatized, they have arrived with very little, only taking what they could carry.

Storm Otto caused havoc in Scandinavia, with winds reaching 145km/h (90mph) on Norway's south-west coast. Blocks of flats were evacuated in Denmark, the Oresund bridge to Sweden closed and Norwegian ferries cancelled. In Scotland and northern England, homes were left without power.

Hugh Jackman believes it is inevitable that Australia will become a republic in the future. He spoke about therapy, his relationship with his children, and his 6,000-calorie-a-day diet. Jackman opened up about his experience of having therapy, saying it had "radically" changed how he sees himself.
